Summer Reading Challenge

ROUND 2!

Thursday, May 31, 2007

Introduction

My name is Becky Laney, and I have two blogs: Becky's Book Reviews, and Becky's Christian Reviews. These keep me very busy. I'm always reading. As far as the challenge goes, I suppose I don't necessarily have a list as of yet. I have two challenges I am participating in that will finish up on June 21rst. (The Once Upon A Time Challenge, and the Spring Reading Thing Challenge.) I'm also participating in the Dystopian Challenge, although that deadline isn't until November. My real goal of this challenge is to catch up on books in my TBR pile. Right now, I've got about twenty or thirty books in the pile that I am needing to get read and reviewed. There are young adult books, children's books, and a few Christian fiction titles waiting for me. My goal is to make some headway with this stack, and have it become more manageable.

My goal this summer is to read two Christian books and three young adult books each week.

Rhinoa's List

Hopefully I haven't chosen too many books for myself... I have had these sitting on my shelf for ages now and still haven't had a chance to get around to reading them. Everyone who has read them says I will really enjoy them, so I am using this challenge as a chance to really get into the series. My blog can be found at Rhinoa's Ramblings

1) Guilty Pleasures - Laurell K. Hamilton
2) The Laughing Corpse - Laurell K. Hamilton
3) Circus of the Damned - Laurell K. Hamilton
4) The Lunatic Cafe - Laurell K. Hamilton
5) The Bloody Bones - Laurell K. Hamilton
6) The Killing Dance - Laurell K. Hamilton

Ellen's List

Is there anything better than summer reading you don't have to do? Lying under a ceiling fan, whiling away the hours? Some of the books on my list (also posted to my personal journal, Wormbook) are fluffy, escapist books and some are harder things I've been dying to dig into this year but haven't yet. Is it June 1st yet?

1. Paullina Simons, THE GIRL IN TIMES SQUARE
2. Joan Acocella, TWENTY-EIGHT ARTISTS AND TWO SAINTS
3. J.P. Donleavy, THE GINGER MAN
4. Carole Cadwalladr, THE FAMILY TREE
5. William Styron, SOPHIE'S CHOICE
6. Iris Murdoch, UNDER THE NET
7. Pauls Toutonghi, RED WEATHER
8. Katharine Weber, TRIANGLE
9. David von Drehle, TRIANGLE (nonfic.)
10. Jeannette Walls, THE GLASS CASTLE
11. Jessica Cutler, THE WASHINGTONIENNE: A NOVEL
12. David Mamet, BAMBI VS. GODZILLA
13. David Gilbert, THE NORMALS
14. Adam Rapp, THE YEAR OF ENDLESS SORROWS
15. Henry James, THE PORTRAIT OF A LADY

Introduction

I am Crissy. Until recently I have been a rather nomadic blogger, but I think I have found just the right place to settle down, Soliloquy.
In lieu of a book list I will simply commit to reading one book per week for the duration of the challenge, and I will limit myself to those books already on my shelves. I hope to include a little Steinbeck, a dash of Oates, and maybe a Young Adult selection from my son's shelf.
But in that regard I make no promises.

Happy summer reading, all!

Kelly's intro & list

I'm a newbie, too, as I just started my blog Misfit finds her place. I have (gulp) fourteen books on my list and my goal is to read at least half of them this summer. That would make 10 total since I'm also doing the Southern Reading Challenge. Seems feasible if they all are as good as I think they will be. I may, of course, add or delete a title or two pending future trips to the bookstore and friends’ recommendations. I have these in mind for now:

▪ The House on the Strand, Daphne du Maurier
▪ Burning Bright, Tracy Chevalier
▪ Love and Louis XIV: The Women in the Life of the Sun King, Antonia Fraser
▪The Book Thief, Markus Zusak
▪ Never Let Me Go, Kazuo Ishiguro
▪ Generation X:Tales for an Accelerated Culture, Douglas Coupland
▪ White Teeth, Zadie Smith
▪ Specimen Days, Michael Cunningham
▪ Mansfield Park, Jane Austen
▪ The Jane Austen Book Club, Karen Joy Fowler
▪ The Book of Lost Things, John Connolly
▪ The Shadow of the Wind, Carlos Ruiz Zafon
▪ The Boleyn Inheritance, Philippa Gregory
▪ Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follett

MaryG's Intro/Challenge

I'm going to be a bit self-indulgent this summer and try to read as many Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers mysteries as I can get my hands on .... I've read them all at least once, but it's been so long since I've just read for fun!

I've already started Cat Among the Pigeons (which is supposed to be a Hercule Poirot, but I'm 2/3 of the way thru and the chubby Belgian hasn't turned up yet). I've also got on the pile: And Then There Were None, Mrs. McGinty's Dead, The Body in the Library, and A Murder is Announced.

THOSE should keep me busy for a week or two -- I'll post with my next batch ....

AMANDA: did you know the blog's calendar is set for 2008?

Shannon's introduction

This is my first challenge, as my book blog is fairly new, but I wanted to get involved, in hopes of maybe being spurred on to complete more reading for the summer. My goal is to read 10 books from my TBR list for the year. I am falling desperately behind on my 50 book challenge for the year, hopefully this will help me catch up.
These are the books I hope to read for this challenge:

~Anne of Green Gables by:LM Montgomery
~Anne of Avonlea by: LM Montgomery
~At Home in Mitford (Mitford series #1) by: Jan Karon
~A Light in the Window (Mitford Series #2)by: Jan Karon
~ These High Green Hills (Mitford Series #3) by: Jan Karon
~ What a Girl Wants (Ashley Stockingdale series #1) by: Kristin Billerbeck
~ She's Out of Control(Ashley Stockingdale series #2) by: Kristin Billerbeck
~With This Ring I'm Confused (Ashley Stockingdale series #3) by: Kristin Billerbeck
~Tara Road by: Maeve Binchy
~The Woman Next Door by: Barbara Delinksy
~Hilltowns by: Anne Rivers Siddons
~Emma by: Jane Austen

It is pretty ambitious, but what is better on a hot summer day but a big glass of iced tea and a pile of books?! Good luck everyone on your challenge! My blog can be found at: http://shandord.blogspot.com/

War and Peace--No, For Serious

I'm Annie, aka The Superfast Reader, and my blog is Reading is my Superpower.

My list is not long, but it's daunting.

I’m gonna read War and Peace.
By August 31st.
Hopefully sooner.

This is something I really want to accomplish before the baby comes, so I figured that this was a good way to make it happen!

Happy reading everyone!

One More Day

Hello All SRC Round 2 Challengers!

Tomorrow is the official start of SRC Round 2! If you have not yet done so, accept your invite and post an introduction to the blog so everyone can get to know you and your reading challenge. Make sure to label the post Introduction/Challenge so we can find you later. Many have also choosen to label their posts with their names which is a fantastic idea! If you have the same name as someone else (for example there are several Amanda's) try to come up with a screen name or a nickname that is different so you can create a label just for your posts. Links to the labels used are in the sidebar.

If you have not yet joined and would still like to, I will continue to send out invites only until June 7, 2007, so please send an email soon to amandaweeklyzen@yahoo.com with your Name, email (for the invite) and blog address (not required if you do not have one). I will send out an invite from blogger which you will need to accept to be able to post and then I will add you to the sidebar.

Rules:
1. Be nice to others (remember we are all having fun here)
2. Have Fun!
3. Try to post at least once a week about what you are reading (that is what makes it fun to read with others!)

Your challenge is your own and you may change it at any time, the idea is to read something this summer, and get to know the other readers out there.

Challenge begins June 1, 2007 and ends August 1, 2007

Happy Reading

alisonwonderland's list

i'm alisonwonderland - or Alison - and i blog about books at So Many Books, So Little Time. i blog about the rest of my life at We're All Mad Here.

i'm currently working on finishing my Spring Reading Thing list by June 21 (and i'm afraid that i'm not going to succeed) - but on June 22 i'll start to tackle my Summer Reading Challenge list. in attempting to create this list, i considered several possibilities for a theme: biographies/autobiographies, time travel books (since i've been interested in those lately), and selections from my piles of books purchased from the local library surplus sales, among other ideas. i finally decided to pick five novels by one author - Jodi Picoult. i've read two of her books already this year, and i'm very interested in reading more of her - so my Summer Reading Challenge list is as follows:
  • Vanishing Acts (2005)
  • Nineteen Minutes (2007)
  • Plain Truth (1999)
  • The Tenth Circle (2006)
  • Perfect Match (2002)

i am an ambitious one

Hi, my name is Soleil and my blog is Jehara. This is my first time to do the summer reading challenge. I have decided I am going to read everything that people have put in my hands and said, you need to read this. Some of them I have just received and others I have been hanging onto for awhile. It's kind of a big stack but it is an interesting mix of big and thin, plays and YA novels. Here goes!

1. SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE THE WOLRD ENDS (A FINAL EVENING WITH THE ILLUMINATI) by Larson and Lee (a play)

2. SEVEN ONE-ACT PLAYS by Wendy Wasserstein

3. PLAY: A JOURNAL OF PLAYS

4. I AM MORGAN LE FAY by Nancy Springer

5. PLAYS FOR A NEW MILLENIUM: NEW WORK FROM PADUA (this one is gigantic)

6. MANY WATERS by Madeleine L'Engle

7. MAGIC OR MADNESS by Justine Larbalestier

8. MAGIC LESSONS by Justine Larbalestier

9. MAGIC'S CHILD by Justine Larbalestier

10. ANNA IN THE TROPICS by Nilo Cruz

11. WITCHERY: A GHOSTS OF ALBION NOVEL by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden

12. ETIQUETTE AND VITRIOL: THE FOOD CHAIN AND OTHER PLAYS by Nicky Silver

13. FOUR PLAYS by Eugene Ionesco

15. THREE PLAYS by Arthur Kopit

16. PUPPET PLAYS, DIVAN POEMS, PROSE POEMS by Federico Garcia Lorca

And that's it. Wow, looking at it numbered, it seems like quite a lot. But i am not doing a bunch of different challenges. good luck to everyone and happy summer reading!

My Crazy List

Hi, I'm Adrienne - this will be my third online reading challenge. Maybe, this time, I'll get through it:)!! I thought I had my list all set, but there have been changes this afternoon. There are a few themes to this list - some sci-fi, some collections of short stories (either by one author or several), and a couple which I recently found and realized I'd borrowed from friends ages ago!
So:
The Other Boleyn Girl - Philippa Gregory
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
Time After Time - edited by Denise Little
Time and Again - Jack Finney
Little Black Book of Stories - A.S. Byatt
The Conjurer's Bird - Martin Davies
Wicked - Gregory Maguire
Naked - David Sedaris

With the KTC selections, and the last Harry Potter - I should be busy enough! I expect the short stories and David Sedaris to go quickly, though - at least I hope so!!
-adrienne:)

  4. Watership Down by Richard Adams

Introduction to Heidijane

Ok, so I'm finally getting around to posting my introductions. I'm Heidijane from Adventures in Bookland. I'm on challenge overload at the moment, so I'm proposing a faily modest target for this one. I was looking along my shelves and discovered a slightly strange anomaly/pattern, in that I had a few books with the word "doctor" in the title, although I'm sure they're all actually very different. So that seemed as good a collection as any - here goes...

  • The House of Doctor Dee, by Peter Ackroyd
  • The Good Doctor, by Damon Galgut
  • Dr Zhivago, by Boris Pasternak

Summer Reading at Casa Pearl

Hi all, my name is Patti and I am joinging the summer reading challenge for the second time. I didn't accomplish much off of last years list - I think too ambitious - so I'm narrowing it down this year. I have three books to read for my book group:

The Road
Water for Elephants
A House for Mr. Biswas

and three others from my TBR pile:

Everything is Illuminated
Chocolat
Silent Spring

I'm also leaning towards joining the SouthernReaders Challenge so if I give in, here are the three books I'd like to read for that:

Lunch at the Picadilly
Queen of the Turtle Derby
As I Lay Dying

At three per month, I think this is a pretty doable list! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading.

Katrina's Reads

Hey, I saw this on adventures in readings blog and thought it sounded a novel way to tackle the latest problem that I have - I keep joining challenges and book groups which are causing me to read books which have been on my TBR list for a long time or are from the library and the new books I have brought aren't getting read!
My list:
The Book of Lost Things
The Book Thief
Water for Elephants
The Testement of Gideon Mack

and a few spares as I may get lots read as I have 6 weeks off for summer:
Gould's Book of Fish
The Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers
The Poisonwood Bible
The Peacock Throne

Laura's Introduction

Hi Everyone,

I've become hooked on challenges this year! Right now I'm participating in LiveJournal's 50BookChallenge, New York Times Notable Books Challenge, Reading Across Borders, and NonFiction5. Like the Summer Reading Challenge, Maggie's Southern Reading Challenge begins June 1, and there's a Classics Challenge starting in July ... in fact, blog buddy Wendy (aka Caribousmom) has started A Novel Challenge to keep track of all the challenges!

I'm going to use the Summer Reading Challenge for light, fun, fill-in reads, just perfect for those lazy hazy days of summer. And at the same time, I'll be making progress towards completing Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. Anyone who hasn't read these, should! Stephanie is a hapless bounty hunter, and the mysteries she solves are loaded with hilariously funny characters and situations. I've read the first three books and would love to get through the next three for this challenge. So, without further ado ... let the challenge begin!

To Be Read (with links to LibraryThing)
1. Four to Score
2. High Five
3. Hot Six

The other books I'll be reading in June and July (mostly for other challenges) are:
  1. Long Walk to Freedom, by Nelson Mandela
  2. To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee (re-read)
  3. Alentejo Blue, by Monica Ali
  4. Vanity Fair, by William Makepeace Thackeray
  5. Lucky, by Alice Sebold
  6. Invisible Man, by Ralph Ellison
  7. Northanger Abbey, by Jane Austen
  8. Gate of the Sun, by Elias Khoury

I'll update this with links to reviews on my blog as I go ...

Annemarie's Info

Hi, I'm Annemarie M. from Costa Rica. Every year, I try to read as many random books as possible. This summer, I'm going to start getting more organized with what I'm going to read.

I'm in seventh grade, going on eighth. I'm always happy, especially when I have book. On average, I can read a four hundred page book a day, so making a list of books I haven't read is going to be hard. My world record is reading all six Harry Potter books in six days total, so this year, my goal is five days.

Please suggest books. I can read anything from grade five up to first year of college.

Here's my list so far:
  • Gone With the Wind
  • The DaVinci Code (have to get parent permission first)
  • David Copperfield
  • Agatha Christie books
  • Books written by Lisa Yee
  • On Pointe
  • Yellow Star
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Les Miserables
  • Alice's Adventure in Wonderland
  • War and Peace (maybe?)
  • The Diary of Anne Frank
  • Amazing Grace
  • Bees Season
  • The Book Thief
  • Breakfast at Tiffany's
  • A Child Called It
  • The Color Purple
  • The Dive from Clausen's Pier
  • The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things
  • The Geography of Girlhood
  • The Giver
  • My Sister's Keeper
  • So B. It
  • Stargirl
  • To Kill a Mocking Bird
Yay!!! So many books!

Hi! I'm Hope. My Summer Reading Challenge is Catching Up. I have a bad habit of getting involved in a series, then getting behind in reading, yet still buying books in said series.

First on my list: The Eyre Affair and Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde, first two the Tuesday Next series. I have many, many unread books that are the first books of a series, but I'm not including those here, since I'm Catching Up. These, though, I already bought both 1 & 2, since I had heard such raves about them .

Second: Eye of Heaven and the novella A Dream of Stone and Shadow by Marjorie M. Liu, parts 4 & 5 of the Dirk & Steel (paranormal romance) series.

Third: Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder, sequel to Poison Study. Maybe I'll get this done before Fire Study even comes out!

Fourth: Princess at Sea by Dawn Cook, sequel to The Decoy Princess. I'm probably actually going to start with this one.

Fifth: Thunderbird Falls by C.E. Murphy, sequel to Urban Shaman, Book 1 of the Walker Papers. Book 3, Coyote Dreams, is out, but I haven't got it yet.

Last: Phoenix and Ashes and The Wizard of London, 4 & 5 of Mercedes Lackey's Elemental Masters series.

If I get done with all these (!): Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody mysteries. I don't even know how many of those I have that I haven't read yet.

Hi fellow readers,
I'm raidergirl3, and I'm joining too. I have set modest goals because I am doing some other challenges as well and don't want to get overwhelmed. I intend to read:

1. Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes (which I WON from booklogged, and katrina just raved about, and I can't wait to read. It's a tearjerker. I love tearjerkers)
2. Good Intentions by Joy Fielding This is a new-to-me author that I'd like to try
3. The Translator by Leila Aboulela This is a NYT Notable book from 2006, and a Reading Across Borders pick of mine
4. Arthur and George by Julian Barnes Another NYT Notable Book

Have fun!

Hello. My name is Equiano from Lost in Translation. I blog mostly about African fiction, so I’ve decided to use this challenge as a way to read some of my general non-African titles. I wandered around my bookshelves and pulled a few books off that I’ve been meaning to read for a while. The result is a bit of a strange mix, but I’m looking forward to them. Since the challenge lasts two months, I thought it would be realistic for me to select a book a week (bearing in mind that I’ll be reading other African titles alongside this selection!). So, here are my choices:

ALLOTTED TIME - Robin Shelton
THE BLUE TAXI - N.S. Koenings
EXTRA VIRGIN - Annie Hawes
JANGO - William Nicholson
PITCHING MY TENT - Anita Diamant
RESTORATION - Rose Tremain
SWEETNESS IN THE BELLY - Camilla Gibb
VERA - Elizabeth von Arnim

For more details as to why I’ve selected them, see this blog post. Happy reading!

Hello everyone! :-)
I'm Ana from Cosy World and I'm new to these challenges, so I'm really excited about participating in this one.
I have decided to try and read 15 books from my TBR pile, it's a big number for me so I'll be more than happy if I succeed in reading half. But a challenge is a challenge! I don't know yet which books will be a part of my list, but I'll let you know as soon as I pick them.

Challenge Intro

I'm Allie, a now-graduated high school senior. For the past 4 years, my summers have been haunted with reading lists. Not that I mind reading, it's just when you HAVE to do something it's less enjoyable.
This summer my challenge is to read some of the books I've acquired over the past 4 years. Except for one book I do not own yet... but it's due out in July!!
1. Pride and Prejudice
2. Kafka on the Shore
3. Everything Is Illuminated
4. One Hundred Years of Solitude
5. The Line of Beauty
6. Tender is the Night
7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-- we get to graduate together!
8. The Shadow of the Wind
9. Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell

With 3 months and 9 books, I think I can challenge myself to 3 a month.
Anyway, good luck to everyone with their challenges!

Amanda's Intro

Hello all! I'm Amanda from A Patchwork of Books. Reading challenges happen to be an addiction of mine and so far I've kept up pretty well. Hopefully that will prove true with this one as well! For this challenge, I've decided to catch up on my TBR books in the YA/Juvenile fiction category. Being a children's librarian I need to stay current on this section of my library, but it always falls short to Christian fiction and picture books. Therefore, I've chosen 12 books I want to finish before this challenge is over, as well as a couple of alternates/bonus choices. None are included in any other challenges. The winners are:

1. Inkspell by Cornelia Funke
2. Uglies by Scott Westerfield
3. Al Capone Does My Shirt by Gennifer Choldenko
4. The Treasures of Weatherby by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
5. 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson
6. Gossamer by Lois Lowry
7. The Seven Wonders of Sassafras Springs by Betty Birney
8. Among the Betrayed by Margaret Peterson Haddix
9. Among the Barons by Margaret Peterson Haddix
10. Aleutian Sparrow by Karen Hesse
11. The Lost Flower Children by Janet Taylor Lisle
12. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

Bonus/Alternates:
13. Pretties by Scott Westerfield
14. The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

Quite a list, but I think I can pull it off! Stop by the blog whenever you would like!

Danielle's Introduction

Hello. I'm Danielle from A Work in Progress. I joined Amanda's Summer Reading Challenge last year as well. I read about half the books I set out to read. This year I am challenging myself to ten(ish) books, but I will be happy to finish six of them! Since I tend to get distracted easily midway through challenges, I thought I might try and be fairly generic in my reading plans:

1. One Virago from this list.
2. One Persephone from this list.
3. Armadale by Wilkie Collins from this list (I haven't forgotten about that list!)
4. A book by Colette.
5. One new fiction book published in the last year--see stack of books in photo.
6. A nice short book from this list!
7. A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O'Connor (for Southern Reading Challenge--I don't think I will get three read, but I will try and read one at least!)
8. In Lucia's Eyes by Arthur Japin or maybe Lady's Maid by Margaret Forster or maybe both!!
9. One seafaring tale (maybe another Horatio Hornblower adventure or a Patrick O'Brien book?)
10. Katherine Mansfield: A Secret Life by Claire Tomalin

Bonus: One miscellaneous classic book (from any number of lists I have made in the past).

As you can see I like making lists. The problem is always sticking to them!

3M's Intro

Hello! I love reading challenges, and I just had to join this challenge, too! This is only the 16th! challenge I'm currently participating in. My main blog is 3M at 3AM, and I am also the hostess for the By the Decade Reading Challenge. I own/moderate the BookAwards reading group, too, so join us if you like reading prize-winning books.

I have decided to read 4 books that have won the Man Booker Prize. My choices are:

1. The Bone People by Keri Hulme (for BookAwards reading group)
2. The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood (for BookAwards reading group)
3. The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy (for BookAwards reading group)
4. The Sea by John Banville (personal TBR list)

Bonus/Alternates:

5. The Life of Pi by Yann Martel (personal TBR list)
6. Possession by A.S. Byatt (personal TBR list)

Dewey's introduction/challenge

Hello!

I'm Dewey, and my blog is The Hidden Side of a Leaf.

I'm also participating in the Something About Me Challenge.
And the Newberry Challenge.
And the New York Times Notable Books Challenge.

So I'm going to keep this list short! These are books in my TBR pile that I really want to get around to.

1. Wifework by Susan Maushart
2. Mockingbird by Charles J. Shields
3. The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood
4. Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton

Introduction

Hi. I'm Susan and I usually blog at Pages Turned. This is my second year with the Summer Reading Challenge and the real challenge for me is sticking to a list--I make them all the time but then I get sidetracked by some other book that strikes my fancy.

This summer I'm going to try my best to read these fifteen books.

Edited to add: Of course, it would help if I actually read instructions. I assumed the Challenge ran through the end of August, not the beginning. So let me modify my challenge to say that I'll read ten books from that list of 15.

Happy Summer Reading!

This is my second summer of reading with the Summer Reading Challenge---I have a list a mile long of what I want to read this summer, but my 2 goals are:
1. read 25 books
2. read DonQuixote
Come and here all about my summer book basket! Looking forward to learning about all of your summer reading!

I'm Rebecca, and I blog over at fibermom. I did the Summer Reading Challenge last year and enjoyed it.
Summers for me are hectic; I work in a teacher's store, so it is the equivalent of the Christmas rush all summer, plus workshops and my own kids at home. I don't need much challenge in the summer.
Still, I always like a little bit of a challenge, to feel that I am accomplishing something. Last year, I made my challenge to read two books a week and write about them at my blog, and I plan to repeat that.
It was also fun when others in the challenge made fun mini-challenges -- I remember at one point someone suggested posting pictures of all the places we were reading. Mine were parks on the way to or from workshops (lunch break with novel, you know), chairs, beds, and the porch. Not as exciting as some, but again -- just the right amount of challenge for my summers.
I look forward to reading about the reading adventures of my fellow summer challengers.

Hello all.

I love to read, and I love to knit. Right now, I have absolutely have no time to do either, but I decided to join this group anyway. I have been listening to a lot of audio books lately, and last night I downloaded another book by Phillippa Gregory. Despite my lack of time, I have physically read two of her books to date and this will be the third book of hers I am reading or in this case (listening) to.

Since this is my first time, with this particular group, I am not entirely sure how it works so I want to see what the rest of you come up with for challenges, but if I am left to my own devises I think I would want to stick with historical fiction books about England in the 1500's, and to add a challenge to it, read a little bit of non-fiction from that period.

It could be the summer of Elizabeth and Mary.

Best,

Shannon
