Introduction

My name is Becky Laney, and I have two blogs: Becky's Book Reviews, and Becky's Christian Reviews. These keep me very busy. I'm always reading. As far as the challenge goes, I suppose I don't necessarily have a list as of yet. I have two challenges I am participating in that will finish up on June 21rst. (The Once Upon A Time Challenge, and the Spring Reading Thing Challenge.) I'm also participating in the Dystopian Challenge, although that deadline isn't until November. My real goal of this challenge is to catch up on books in my TBR pile. Right now, I've got about twenty or thirty books in the pile that I am needing to get read and reviewed. There are young adult books, children's books, and a few Christian fiction titles waiting for me. My goal is to make some headway with this stack, and have it become more manageable.

My goal this summer is to read two Christian books and three young adult books each week.

Introduction

I am Crissy. Until recently I have been a rather nomadic blogger, but I think I have found just the right place to settle down, Soliloquy.
In lieu of a book list I will simply commit to reading one book per week for the duration of the challenge, and I will limit myself to those books already on my shelves. I hope to include a little Steinbeck, a dash of Oates, and maybe a Young Adult selection from my son's shelf.
But in that regard I make no promises.

I'm a newbie, too, as I just started my blog Misfit finds her place. I have (gulp) fourteen books on my list and my goal is to read at least half of them this summer. I'm going to be a bit self-indulgent this summer and try to read as many Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers mysteries as I can get my hands on .... I've read them all at least once, but it's been so long since I've just read for fun!


I've already started Cat Among the Pigeons (which is supposed to be a Hercule Poirot, but I'm 2/3 of the way thru and the chubby Belgian hasn't turned up yet). I've also got on the pile: And Then There Were None, Mrs. McGinty's Dead, The Body in the Library, and A Murder is Announced.

THOSE should keep me busy for a week or two -- I'll post with my next batch ....

Hi Everyone,

I've become hooked on challenges this year! Right now I'm participating in LiveJournal's 50BookChallenge, New York Times Notable Books Challenge, Reading Across Borders, and NonFiction5. Like the Summer Reading Challenge, Maggie's Southern Reading Challenge begins June 1, and there's a Classics Challenge starting in July ... in fact, blog buddy Wendy (aka Caribousmom) has started A Novel Challenge to keep track of all the challenges!

I'm going to use the Summer Reading Challenge for light, fun, fill-in reads, just perfect for those lazy hazy days of summer. And at the same time, I'll be making progress towards completing Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. Anyone who hasn't read these, should! Stephanie is a hapless bounty hunter, and the mysteries she solves are loaded with hilariously funny characters and situations. I've read the first three books and would love to get through the next three for this challenge. So, without further ado ... let the challenge begin!

Hi, I'm Annemarie M. from Costa Rica. Every year, I try to read as many random books as possible. This summer, I'm going to start getting more organized with what I'm going to read.

I'm in seventh grade, going on eighth. I'm always happy, especially when I have book. On average, I can read a four hundred page book a day, so making a list of books I haven't read is going to be hard. My world record is reading all six Harry Potter books in six days total, so this year, my goal is five days.

Hi! I'm Hope. My Summer Reading Challenge is Catching Up. I have a bad habit of getting involved in a series, then getting behind in reading, yet still buying books in said series.

First on my list: The Eyre Affair and Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde, first two the Tuesday Next series. I have many, many unread books that are the first books of a series, but I'm not including those here, since I'm Catching Up. These, though, I already bought both 1 & 2, since I had heard such raves about them .

Second: Eye of Heaven and the novella A Dream of Stone and Shadow by Marjorie M. Liu, parts 4 & 5 of the Dirk & Steel (paranormal romance) series.

Third: Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder, sequel to Poison Study. Maybe I'll get this done before Fire Study even comes out!

Fourth: Princess at Sea by Dawn Cook, sequel to The Decoy Princess. I'm probably actually going to start with this one.

Fifth: Thunderbird Falls by C.E. Murphy, sequel to Urban Shaman, Book 1 of the Walker Papers. Book 3, Coyote Dreams, is out, but I haven't got it yet.

Last: Phoenix and Ashes and The Wizard of London, 4 & 5 of Mercedes Lackey's Elemental Masters series.

If I get done with all these (!): Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody mysteries. I don't even know how many of those I have that I haven't read yet.

Hello all! I'm Amanda from A Patchwork of Books. Reading challenges happen to be an addiction of mine and so far I've kept up pretty well. Hopefully that will prove true with this one as well! For this challenge, I've decided to catch up on my TBR books in the YA/Juvenile fiction category. Being a children's librarian I need to stay current on this section of my library, but it always falls short to Christian fiction and picture books. Hello. I'm Danielle from A Work in Progress. I joined Amanda's Summer Reading Challenge last year as well. I read about half the books I set out to read. This year I am challenging myself to ten(ish) books, but I will be happy to finish six of them! Since I tend to get distracted easily midway through challenges, I thought I might try and be fairly generic in my reading plans:

1. One Virago from this list.
2. One Persephone from this list.
3. Armadale by Wilkie Collins from this list (I haven't forgotten about that list!)
4. A book by Colette.
5. One new fiction book published in the last year--see stack of books in photo.
6. A nice short book from this list!
7. A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O'Connor (for Southern Reading Challenge--I don't think I will get three read, but I will try and read one at least!)
8. In Lucia's Eyes by Arthur Japin or maybe Lady's Maid by Margaret Forster or maybe both!!
9. One seafaring tale (maybe another Horatio Hornblower adventure or a Patrick O'Brien book?)

Introduction

Hi. I'm Susan and I usually blog at Pages Turned. This is my second year with the Summer Reading Challenge and the real challenge for me is sticking to a list--I make them all the time but then I get sidetracked by some other book that strikes my fancy.

This summer I'm going to try my best to read these fifteen books.

Edited to add: Of course, it would help if I actually read instructions. I assumed the Challenge ran through the end of August, not the beginning. So let me modify my challenge to say that I'll read ten books from that list of 15.

I'm Rebecca, and I blog over at fibermom. I did the Summer Reading Challenge last year and enjoyed it.
Summers for me are hectic; I work in a teacher's store, so it is the equivalent of the Christmas rush all summer, plus workshops and my own kids at home. I don't need much challenge in the summer.
Still, I always like a little bit of a challenge, to feel that I am accomplishing something. Last year, I made my challenge to read two books a week and write about them at my blog, and I plan to repeat that.
It was also fun when others in the challenge made fun mini-challenges -- I remember at one point someone suggested posting pictures of all the places we were reading. Mine were parks on the way to or from workshops (lunch break with novel, you know), chairs, beds, and the porch. Not as exciting as some, but again -- just the right amount of challenge for my summers.
I look forward to reading about the reading adventures of my fellow summer challengers.

Hello all.

I love to read, and I love to knit. Right now, I have absolutely have no time to do either, but I decided to join this group anyway. I have been listening to a lot of audio books lately, and last night I downloaded another book by Phillippa Gregory. Despite my lack of time, I have physically read two of her books to date and this will be the third book of hers I am reading or in this case (listening) to.

Since this is my first time, with this particular group, I am not entirely sure how it works so I want to see what the rest of you come up with for challenges, but if I am left to my own devises I think I would want to stick with historical fiction books about England in the 1500's, and to add a challenge to it, read a little bit of non-fiction from that period.

It could be the summer of Elizabeth and Mary.
